Report Highlights: New Zealand’s imports of consumer-oriented food products have trended upward over the past several years. Australia is the leading supplier with a 35 percent market share, followed by the United States at 14 percent, and China at 4.6 percent. In 2015, U.S. consumer-oriented food exports reached US$340 million, up from US$193 million in 2010. The top U.S. exports included: food preparations, pet food, almonds, fresh grapes, fresh oranges, walnuts, sauces, and tomato paste. High quality, price competitive products with innovative packaging and unique features tend to do well in the New Zealand market.
