On May 24, 2024, the Ontario provincial government announced an accelerated plan to allow sales of wine, beer, cider, and ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages in grocery and convenience stores by the end of October 2024. The initial timeline provided for implementation to begin in January 2026.

Alcoholic beverages imported into Ghana increased from $56 million in 2019 to $87 million in 2023.

Wine Institute has updated its FAQ document on the nutrition and ingredient labeling requirements of the European Union (EU). The document has been revised to include specific guidance on how wineries should identify the QR code on the label. Recent engagement with the U.S. government and the European Commission has provided further clarity on the need to identify the QR code with the term “ingredients.” The Member Hub page (Wine Institute) also contains additional resources including links to the July and September 2023 webinars and accompanying slides and a link to the EU Nutrition Calculator.
